According to the survey, approximately eight men for every 1,000 completed a California divorce in 2009, which was well below the national average of 9.2 per 1,000 men.  Women had a divorce rate of 8.9 per 1,000, which was also well below the national average of 9.7.  Arkansas had the highest male divorce rate in the United States at 13.5 per 1,000 men and Alaska had the highest women's rate, which was 16.2 per 1,000.
